Fun with Poladroid

It's silly, it's fun, and it's free! With Poladroid, you can make great little fake polaroids out of any photo. Just drag and drop an image file onto the little camera, and wait a little bit while the photo "develops." Genius!

CORGI!!!

In better dog news, CORGI! IN JAPAN! WITH ADORABLY SHORT LEGS! :D

Roberto Cavalli + Your Dog = Leopard Puppies

Your dog isn't spoiled enough with the peasant wares of Juicy Couture Doggy. You need to upgrade to something more refined and up to the level of your too-good-for-tap-water pooch. That's why, god forbid, Roberto Cavalli came up with a new line of...stuff...for dogs. Petwear? In any case, there's some satin robes with the Cavalli logo embroidered on the back, a carrier that resembles a guillotine, and (my personal favorite) leopard-print dog outfits. Because your dog's psychologist doesn't have enough issues to deal with, he can now add puppy identity crisis to the list. Really. Some people have those for their dogs. No joke. :(

Pink Dolphin!

This photo of the albino pink dolphin from the Telegraph has clearly been fucked with to the point of excess, but still, a pink dolphin! So freaking cool! And only slightly less gay than a pink unicorn. :)

To reinforce the obvious, here's an article from the Seattle Times:

Confusables - Malaysian vs Filipino Co-Pilots

Not me! But very deceptively close. This is Co-Pilot Down. They are a "punk/alternative/hardcore" band from Malaysia. They are Asian. They might be a little crazy. But that is where the similarities end. Their Myspace is here:

Which makes me wonder, why didn't they choose /copilotdown as their address? Copycats.

FIVE Blades, Dammit!

Fuck Everything, Were Doing Five Blades

The Onion

Fuck Everything, We're Doing Five Blades

Would someone tell me how this happened? We were the fucking vanguard of shaving in this country. The Gillette Mach3 was the razor to own. Then the other guy came out with a three-blade razor. Were we scared? Hell, no.

Work = War!

This is awesome. Spectacular. AMAZING. War at the workplace takes on a more literal meaning than those petty squabbles and water cooler gossip. Seriously. I want to work somewhere that lets me play with stuff like this. The best USB gadget ever!

Oh, White Folks In Seattle!

What the wonderful blog "Stuff White People Like" considers to be "the greatest passage in history":

“Wil Shipley, a Seattle software developer, uses his iPhone at the Whole Foods fish counter to check websites for updates on which seafood is the most environmentally correct to purchase. He quizzes the staff on where and how a fish was caught. Because he carries the Internet with him, “I can be super-picky,” he said.”

HAHAHAHAHA. I LOVE IT.

Frightening Fact of the Day

According to an article in the Puget Sound Business Journal, there are some 15,000 (yes, FIFTEEN THOUSAND) millionaires living within 10 miles of Bellevue Square alone. No wonder all those Bellevue...belles...can go shopping so often.

French Slang For The Day

MDR - While chatting online avec tes amis en France, use mdr instead of lol. Seriously? Seriously. Mort de rire, to die of laughing, may seem melodramatic, but whatever. They're French.

A Gas Station Worth Driving 1,159 Miles For

At the corner of Olympic and Robertson in Los Angeles stands just about the most amazing gas station ever. The BP Helios House, designed by John Picard, is just about the most eco-friendly gas station around. It includes "a roof that collects rainwater, a garden planted with drought-friendly greenery, and copious use of solar panels—even the bathroom tiles are made from recycled glass." Pretty freaking awesome. Although I think a road trip there would defeat the purpose...

The New (Zealand) It Boy

If James Blunt were hilarious instead of mopey, 6' instead of 5'7", adorkable instead of a tool, and had a hot (albeit vaguely unintelligible) New Zealand accent, he'd be Bret McKenzie. He makes up one half of the absurdly funny folk comedy/music/writing/acting/whatnot duo Flight of the Conchords, along with fellow Kiwi Jemaine Clement. He's an odd one. Actually, both he and his father were in Fellowship of the Ring. Go figure. And even weirder is that he looks better with facial hair than without. Anyways, he's hilarious, the show is hilarious, all is wonderful. The first season of their HBO show is now on DVD, so Netflix that ASAP.

Too Rich?

News: Play Money (Seattle Weekly)
This article makes me very sad. Sometimes I think there really might be such a thing as too rich. It's even more discomforting when I think about how these people don't really live all that far away, yet they have really no concept of the common person's existence. So sad!

Random Discovery of the Day

I got really confused watching the music video for Silversun Pickups' "Lazy Eye". Why in the world is that young thing styled so androgynous? It took me a full two and a half minutes to figure out that thing was a girl. I didn't even get it until her t-shirt dress tipped me off at the end. I absolutely despise ugly, short pixie cuts on girls. They look like drab, uninteresting versions of prettier girls.
Random Discovery of the Day

When I was little, one of the movies I never forgot was A Little Princess, from 1995. It was a pretty emotional affecting movie by the standards of children's fare. Looking back at the movie, I've learned three little facts:

1 - Camilla Belle was actually one of the little girls in the movie

2 - It was directed by Alfonso Cuarón, the amazing director behind Children of Men, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Y tu mamá también

3 - The title character was played by Liesel Matthews, whose real last name is Pritzker, as in the family that is consistently in Forbes' Wealthiest Families list. They founded the Hyatt hotel chain, as well as Royal Caribbean Cruises and TransUnion Credit Union, among other entities, raking in a net worth of some $15 billion. She and her brother sued their parents for withheld assets from their trust funds, netting each of them $500 million, making them two of the richest young people in America. And now she goes to Columbia. Blegh!
