Cold War Kids - "Audience"

This is one of the best songs I've heard this year. Yea, this year kind of sucked, but even in a good year, this song would hold its own.

Albert Hammond Jr. vs Julian Casablancas

Does anybody miss The Strokes yet? Yeah, whatever. In any case, whose solo project sings to your heart?

Albert Hammond, Jr.'s (that's a punctuation nightmare) "GfC" is from 2008, but the whole CD is really slick and worth a listen:

Julian Casablancas' sounds more Strokes-like, for better or for worse. Just listen:

FANTASTIC. That's the only way to describe Beyonce's new video for "Sweet Dreams". I absolutely hated "Halo," but with this, all is forgiven.

Shakira's new song "She Wolf" is fantastic. The video is also fantastic. Her ass is fantastic. The lyrics make no sense, but she makes them fantastic. Shakira is fantastic.

Jean Carlos = Impossibly Hot, Part 2

If I could spend a lazy summer day with Jean Carlos like this, I'd probably end up padlocking the door and swallowing the key. Just sayin'.

Bradley Cooper Is Hot.

Bradley Cooper is so damn fine. Watch The Hangover dammit. Laugh real hard and see him in his underwear. That is all. Photoshoot and interview at Details (I still haven't gotten to the interview though, somebody should summarize it).

Yoann Gourcuff = HOT

Yoann Gourcuff is not only a stupidly hot French soccer...err, futbol...player, but he also happens to be the same age as me. Blech. And by blech, I mean I would do anything he told me to do. :D More here.

Fun with Poladroid

It's silly, it's fun, and it's free! With Poladroid, you can make great little fake polaroids out of any photo. Just drag and drop an image file onto the little camera, and wait a little bit while the photo "develops." Genius!

The Bravern - Bottega Veneta Pulling Out?

Is Bottega Veneta pulling out of the Bravern development in Bellevue? All press releases and mentions of the boutique seem to have mysteriously vanished from the Bravern website. My guess is that the Gucci Group, which owns Bottega Veneta, was monitoring how the new Gucci boutique at 5th & University in downtown Seattle was performing, and combining that with the economy as a whole, decided to pull the plug on opening a Bottega Veneta in Bellevue. Oy.

Nick Symmonds + Naked Running = Thanks Nike!

Why do I stay so loyal to Asics when they never have hot naked athletes running around like this?

Bret Harrison + Grounded for Life

Sara and I used to watch "Grounded for Life" on the WB and would always comment on how absurd it was that that plain-looking redhead got to go out with that really cute guy. But beyond just staring at Bret Harrison, this show was actually pretty funny, like "Full House" meets middle-class trash. :D

Whoops, forgot the photos, but it deserves another post all its own. Because it's that lovely. From here.

Get the DVDs here:

Bret Harrison + Shirtless = Fan

It seems that superherofan shares the same artistic appreciation that I do for Bret Harrison, previously of "Grounded for Life," then "The Loop" and now "Reaper."

Check the show out on Hulu, but only season 1, because they totally killed the show for season 2.

Cut Copy + Concert = Good!

I almost forgot I went to the free Cut Copy concert on campus last night until "Nobody Lost, Nobody Found" played in iTunes DJ. I was in a total daze from sewing that damn coat that I could only go for the first 45 minutes or so, which was energetic, upbeat, and full of awkward WashU kids instead of hyper-extreme hipsters. Thankfully, it wasn't too crowded or too sweaty or whatever. Best moment? Some dumb bitch trying to squeeze to the front falling flat on her face after tripping on some guy's wheelchair. Dumb, dumb, dumb. Anyways, check out "Nobody Lost, Nobody Found" above. I really need to go to more concerts this summer.

Carine Roitfeld + CNN = Not Sure...

I'm sorry, I just don't really understand a lot of the words that Carine Roitfeld, supremely chic editor of Vogue Paris, utters in this mostly lovely profile. But it's worth watching to just observe the world's most stylish woman in her natural habitat, wearing clothes that have literally debuted just days before on the runway, such as that freaking awesome Balenciaga dress (above) she wears to the office. The clothes she wears are a good six months or so away from hitting stores, if they go into production at all. Oh, it must be so, so good to be her.

Erin Wasson = Brody Jenner - Penis

Erin Wasson is so creative. She is such a wonderful artist. Her whole life is just amazing. Nah, I'm kidding, I kinda just wanna vomit after I read about the words that come out of her silly, pretty mouth. Nah, I'm kidding again, her mouth isn't all that pretty. In her own words:

“I get approached for a lot of TV projects. And I sit in a room with these people and I say ‘You guys realize you’re talking to the wrong girl?’ I’m not your cheesy girl that’s going to dress up in a hokey outfit and say all the sound bites that you want me to say. That’s just not who I am. I’m a total odd bird. I collect prison art and paper mache [sic] masks. I keep a journal and rip pages out of books. I think that when you open your mind, you realize there’s art everywhere, there’s art all around us. That’s what keeps the wheels in motion. To create is my ultimate goal. So why would I ever sell out?”

Erin Wasson Chooses ‘Creating’ Over Selling Out -- The Cut: New York Magazine's Fashion Blog:

Roberto Cavalli + Your Dog = Leopard Puppies

Your dog isn't spoiled enough with the peasant wares of Juicy Couture Doggy. You need to upgrade to something more refined and up to the level of your too-good-for-tap-water pooch. That's why, god forbid, Roberto Cavalli came up with a new line of...stuff...for dogs. Petwear? In any case, there's some satin robes with the Cavalli logo embroidered on the back, a carrier that resembles a guillotine, and (my personal favorite) leopard-print dog outfits. Because your dog's psychologist doesn't have enough issues to deal with, he can now add puppy identity crisis to the list. Really. Some people have those for their dogs. No joke. :(

Thanks to The Cut

No More Kyle XY = No More Matt Dallas

The ABC Family show wasn't renewed for another season. Well, whatever. His acting ability somehow failed to convey anything beyond the dumbest, most vacant of expressions. But he has a nice body, no two ways about it. And that episode where he discovers sex is a future classic.

Is There No Other Way to Be Green?!

Because these make me wanna vomit.

Mary Katrantzou's big debut at London Fashion Week was full of buzz. Her perfume bottle prints were stunning and fresh, which is big praise in London, where every other young designer sees themselves as the next Johnathan Saunders. Can't wait to see more from her.

Christopher Kane Fall 2009

fashionologie has the scoop on the new Christopher Kane show. Kane is easily one of the top three designers in London right now, along with Giles Deacon and...a third, rotating member (Louise Goldin maybe?). This show is faaaaar better than his crack-whack Planet of the Apes meets The Flintstones collection from last season.

It's Fashion Week!

New York Fashion Week is in full swing, and there are a few designers you definitely need to look for. Altuzarra, Hester, and Cushnie et Ochs are getting the biggest buzz, while Bibhu Mohapatra (styled by Lauren Santo Domingo) and Hutson (from the duo behind Obedient Sons & Daughters) are also on my radar. Ohne Titel and Yigal Azrouël (who had Ashley Dupre in the front row, totally unbeknownst to him) are finally coming into their own, but neither has hit the big-time quite like Anna Wintour fave Alexander Wang. More to come!

The Stranger Eats at Denny's

Morning in America - Restaurants - The Stranger, Seattle's Only Newspaper: "The Great Grand-Slam Giveaway may not have hit its target market—the would-be Applebee's customer, tightening the proverbial if not the actual belt—but it created exorbitant goodwill among high schoolers, stoners, and the homeless (and, probably especially, combinations thereof)."

A perfect description of all that was the free Denny's breakfast.

Michelle Obama + Vogue = Best. Cover. EVER.

EDIT: Cover leaked!!!

The pictures haven't leaked yet, but the Washington Post has finally confirmed that Michelle Obama will indeed be on the grand March issue of Vogue, as just about everybody had predicted. She wears Jason Wu on the cover (of course) and Narciso Rodriguez in side (no surprise there) and was shot by Annie Leibovitz (naturally). Andre Leon Talley wrote the article (though who really reads anything he writes?). Can't freaking wait for the photos to leak.

Vicky Cristina Barcelona = Gorgeous

Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Woody Allen's latest Scarlett Johansson showcase, is definitely worth watching, especially now in the doldrums of winter. The lens is sensuously washed in seductive shades of saffron, reflecting the delicious golden haze of the Spanish summer sun. This works only to enhance the undeniable beauty of Pénelope Cruz, so sultry and sumptuous, despite her role as a woman constantly on the verge of meltdown. Sonia Grande's costumes sing of chic summer ease, featherweight and flowing against the body with every breeze, invoking envy in anyone stuck in Midwestern winter hell. Allen, in highlighting Barcelona's typical but still stunning Gaudí and Miró, as well as the quieter beauty of the countryside and other overlooked sites, has found a new city to which he can write a love song. Everything about the film made me yearn for a vacation. Damn you, Woody Allen. Damn you.

David Beckham - Fugly + French = Yoann Gourcuff

I don't care for David Beckham. He's just not terribly attractive in the face in the way so many other folks are. He's just gross. But Yoann Gourcuff! Oh my! Purely delectable. Extremely attractive. Oh, so wonderfully French. Drool.

Jason Wu Trunk Show at Seattle Nordstrom

Even if Jason Wu isn't reproducing Michelle Obama's inaugural gown, he still has a whole assortment of gorgeous gowns just waiting to be loved. Next Wednesday, at the flagship Nordstrom in downtown Seattle, there's going to be a Jason Wu trunk show on 2. While this has been planned for quite some time now, there really couldn't have been better timing for the event. It's especially surprising considering that the other designers on the Seattle Nordstrom trunk show schedule are Chanel, Oscar de la Renta, and Akris, none of which are up-and-coming designers in the slightest.

Here's the info from nordstrom.com:
